Data Centre Disaster Recovery Policy |
Managed Hosts Data Protection Policy
- All virtual server images are stored on RAID protected SAN volumes, with SAN mirroring and Continuous Availability available for high SLA applications
- Virtual servers are imaged to a second line SAN either daily or weekly depending on the level of protection required, images are retained for up to three months to allow point in time recovery of servers
- Server image backups are archived weekly to LTO tape for offsite storage
- Continuous data protection is available for critical data using our vaultXS service, which backs the data up to our disaster recovery site in Surrey
Data Recovery Systems
- In the unlikely event of a hardware failure of the physical host server hardware its virtual servers are restarted on another host server within a few minutes, unless Continuous Availability is in place, in which case failover is immediate and transparent (no loss of data, user sessions etc)
- Should it be necessary to restore a previous server image, or files from that image, this can usually be achieved within 2 hours
- In the event of a complete datacentre failure server images can be restored from our offsite tape backups within one working day
- vaultXS offsite backup data can be restored within one hour for up to 1GB of data, larger data sets may take up to a maximum of 4 hours
