I vaguely remember getting that error during one of my attempts, I think it occurs if you install two different copies of the driver. I havent tried it myself yet but I would concur with the first comment and use vSphere4 - its support for IDE disks will make things much easier as you will not need to install a driver. - Tom Finnis

Sorry for the double post... Would work first time...

I am converting an old Dell box running SCO 5.0.7 and I am running vSphere 4. The physical server is using a PERC controller and I am trying to get the system to load off of the blc controller. I have used the convertor cd to make my image and at the boot prompt I am entering: defbootstr hd=Sdsk link=blc btld=fd(65) Sdsk=blc (0,0,0,0)

This results in the following:
Loading kernel symbol table, this may take a few minutes
bootlocore: Out of low (below 1Mb) memory!
No memory for string table
No (or cannot load) kernel hd(40)unit symbol table
Link failed, press to continue or q to quit:

Any ideas on what might be going wrong? Any help is appreciated since I have no knowledge in SCO... Thanks!

The box is a SCO 5.0.7 server... Any suggestions as I know nothing about SCO? - Derek DuBois

vSphere 4.0 adds support directly for SCO 5.0 and IDE Disk drives. But thanks for the directions, as I'm most likley going to have to attempt a similar migration on 3.5esx as well. - Mike King
